Cambridge University Press seeks an Editor/Senior Editor, Law to join our Academic Publishing Group. The role will be based in New York within state-of-the-art offices conveniently located in Tribeca. The successful candidate will expand our existing author base in North America to find new academic law titles which can sell in the Americas or globally and make recommendations for our future publishing strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding high profile list within an established global publisher. Key Accountabilities:• Sign new academic law digital and print content in accordance with an agreed publishing plan; • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to build market knowledge and ensure that our law publishing program meets the changing needs of our customers;• Collaborate with other Cambridge editors based in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia who are working together to grow our law lists; • Negotiate author contracts within agreed guidelines;• Maintain and support relationships with authors while writing to ensure delivery of scripts on schedule.Requirements:Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5+ years of proven experience publishing profitable new titles in law that are aimed primarily at a scholarly readership and written by authors based in the Americas. They will possess an existing network of scholarly contacts; have excellent communication skills, including both written and spoken English; be willing to travel to universities and research institutes in the US and Canada; and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A degree in law is strongly preferred.
