W.W. Norton & Company’s College Division is seeking a Production Associate to manage high-volume, semi-annual reprint lists of Higher Education books, and quarterly lists of digital ancillary products. The Production Associate will report to the Director of Production, College, with supervision by the Senior Production Supervisor.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Coordinating seasonal reprint activity across several hundred titles through all stages of production, including type corrections, estimating, purchasing text stock and managing paper inventories, printing, binding, and processing final invoices
•Collaborating with the Editorial and Design departments to usher books through the reprint cycle
•Collaborating with the Custom Production Supervisor to manage custom-title reprints
•Working with composition houses to manage type corrections
•Working with several book manufacturing companies and component vendors to ensure timely printing and shipping of titles
•Maintaining an accurate database of all book projects in process
•Issuing weekly reprint and custom status reports
•Issuing bi-weekly frontlist production status report
•Serving as secretary of monthly department meeting and issuing minutes
•Supplying various print PDF files for ADA-compliance needs
•Other projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree
•Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required
•Must be able to work full business hours
•2 years of book production experience, preferably Higher Education
•Team player who works collegially across various in-house departments and outside suppliers
•Highly organized, disciplined, proactive, and self-directed - able to work independently with minimal supervision
•Excellent verbal and written communications skills
•Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and deliver finished books and other projects on time
•Detail-oriented and quality focused, making sure that all aspects of daily activities are handled with accuracy and minimal mistakes.
•Must be self-directed and independent
•Demonstrated curiosity about making books and the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing publishing industry

Technical Skills:
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite a must
•Experience with database systems (Quickbase, Filemaker, etc.) a plus
•Experience with project management software (BaseCamp, Confluence, etc.) a plus
•Experience with layout and graphics software (InDesign, Acrobat Pro, PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc.) a plus
