The Production/Editorial Assistant serves as the conduit between the packagers, printers, and internal departments. This position coordinates and organizes production matters and manages the day-to-day editorial responsibilities of book projects. Including working with freelancers and in-house editors and designers to ensure that the book conforms to contracted specifications and meets the Publisher’s expectations when it is ready for final signoff by the Managing Editor. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is accurate, pays attention to the details, can manage multiple projects simultaneously and excels in making a fast-paced office run smoothly.

Book Sales is a division of Quarto Publishing Group USA, a global leader in publishing with offices throughout the World. This office is fast paced. You will be involved in all aspects of administrating and orchestrating our publishing program and activities. We are seeking an energetic, quick learner who is computer savvy, reliable, works independently, is well-organized, capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing and copes well dealing with deadlines. Prior publishing and professional office experience is required.

Key Results Areas
A.Project Management
•Editing, copyediting and proofreading.
•Updating copyright pages and correcting design files.
•Raise any issues with final manuscript based on its content.
•Provide feedback to packager, printer or editor.
•Liaise with freelance editors or packagers to copyedit and proofread projects.
•Do the same for any other miscellaneous editing that needs to be done.
•Review freelance editors’ work and provide feedback to freelancers and managing editor.
•Attend weekly edit/production meetings.
•Enter new titles and schedule revisions into a title management database.
•Print and distribute revised production schedules.
•Write jacket and flap copy where needed.
•Make text corrections and follow through to repro house.
•Liaise with jacket designers through to final proof.
•Assist with managing backlist reprints and gathering print quotes.
•Execute print orders to vendors.
•Traffic packages to vendors.
•Manage image library updates.

B.General Office
•Process internal documents and expense reports & create a system to track expenses.
•Responsible for incoming/outgoing mail.
•Pack and ship books; create shipping labels for Fed Ex, UPS or USPS, ect.
•Provide administrative support where needed.
•Other tasks as assigned.
