Senior Editor, Electrical & Computer Engineering
Location: Cambridge or New YorkCambridge University Press is seeking an additional editor (Senior Editor/Editor) to join our global engineering team to commission academic and professional books, journals and digital products. This is an exciting time to join Cambridge University Press as we are increasing our output of products and embracing new technologies to provide information with all the features and in all the formats required by the market. We are actively encouraging new ideas, innovative experiments and truly market-driven publishing.The successful applicant will be responsible for defined areas of our electrical engineering program, depending on experience. The editor will acquire new projects, manage lists in those areas, and contribute to our overall publishing strategy. He or she will also work with colleagues in marketing, sales and production to deliver integrated, cost-controlled and market–led publishing. Furthermore, the editor will prepare sales budgets, supervise and manage the issuing of contracts and manage publishing projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.Requirements: • Minimum of 5+ years of publishing experience in editorial or acquisitions (ideally commissioning with a relevant discipline – i.e. ECE, other engineering disciplines, physics, maths or CS);• Excellent communication skills and a high degree of self-motivation;• Experience of acquiring and publishing digital products is desirable; • Graduate degree in relevant discipline highly preferred;• This post requires extensive national and overseas travel, and will be based in either New York City or Cambridge, UK (candidates must already have the required visa, if needed, to work in one of these locations).
