FierceMarkets, a fast-growing digital media company based in downtown Washington, D.C., is seeking a VP/Director of Finance to guide our accounting and admin team as we seek the next phase of expansion.

The VP/Director of Finance will be responsible for managing the accounting department, setting and maintaining proper accounting controls and procedures, and partnering with management to maintain our “finger on the pulse” of the business. A primary focus will be on monthly financial close and statements, forecasting, business analysis and management reporting. The right candidate will be given significant responsibilities and opportunities for growth.

This is a full-time, on-location position in downtown Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:
•Perform reconciliation and analysis for all balance sheet accounts
•Analyze financial results for both internal and external use
•Track and maintain monthly P/L and balance sheet activity
•Develop/maintain forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities
•Review of general ledger and balance sheet
•Resolving various accounting/reconciliation issues
•Financial reports: monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including but not limited to monthly and fiscal close, internal and external audit reporting, report preparation and distribution
•Maintain cost control procedures
•Manage payroll and Human Resources administration
•Performs related duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, prior controller experience preferred
•Ability to prepare monthly financial statements, key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analyses
•Adept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes as well as analyzing moderately complex financial information
•Experience with Quickbooks and other accounting software
•Experience in media, advertising and/or events business a plus.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships
•Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration in Excel
•Strong analytical and organizational skills.
•Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
•Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
