This unique hybrid position of Digital Producer & Project Manager for Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and SHOT Business caters to the organized, versatile and experienced journalist who can lead a project from conception through launch, and help to further develop select products and services following the launch. This individual will also contribute to the creation of editorial content in the form of articles, blog posts, videos and/or interactive features.

Active communication and collaboration with editorial, digital development, and sales & marketing colleagues will be essential. Experience with Agile development and comfort operating in a fast-paced news environment is highly preferred.

This individual will be the tactical lead of digital execution on FieldandStream.com, OutdoorLife.com and ShotBusiness.org.

Primary Responsibilities:

?Ensure that the objectives of digital projects undertaken on behalf of the Outdoor brands are satisfied within scope, budget and schedule. This is to be accomplished through the utilization of a defined methodology established and supported by PMO.
?In partnership with other business units, help to identify and document feature requests, bugs, and editorial workflow improvements.
?Collaborate with the editorial team on tools that improve story discovery/reporting, streamline content production, and enable new forms of content.
?With input from key stakeholders, review project proposals to determine development effort, time frames, resources and potential ROI.
?Interpret and make content, UX recommendations based on site performance analytics.
?Oversee the flow of content among editorial teams (print, digital, video, tablet, etc.) and the Web production environment.
?Produce some content directly, including the posting and formatting interactive features.
?Help perform user-testing of new and enhanced digital products.

Qualifications:

?Bachelor’s degree in journalism, computer science, business, or an analytical field, or equivalent experience.
?Solid project management skills and the ability to multitask using sound business judgment. PMP or CSM certification preferred.
?Minimum of three years in digital publishing and/or software development.
?A clear grasp of HTML5 and CSS is required; working knowledge of JavaScript a plus.
?Experience working in or supporting a fast-paced online editorial operation.
?Knowledge of open source content management systems (CMS), ideally Drupal.
?Experience with issue-tracking and team collaboration software such as JIRA & Confluence, Mantis or Basecamp.
?Experience with Omniture, Google Analytics or other analytics software.
?Experience with Brightcove, Ooyala or other video publishing platform.
?Thorough understanding of SEO and social media best practices.
