Amazon is looking for a driven, creative, and experienced Principal UX Designer to drive a brand new business that offers an exciting new way for customers to shop. You will lead the vision and deliver solutions for digital, mobile, offline, and products and be responsible for the UX, UI, and visual design experiences.

This is a rare opportunity to join the true ground floor of a new business. You will be the lynchpin to the customer experience and will delight customers through your work, and you will launch this new product/service for the first time, then drive growth & scalability.
You will own developing best-in-class consumer experiences (user interface designs, interaction models, prototypes, etc.) in a fast-paced, agile, startup-like environment. You are a pragmatic visionary that can translate business needs into a fantastic customer-focused solution. You must be responsive, flexible, open to new ideas, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. The ideal candidate for this position will be at ease visualizing an experience in the abstract and driving that vision into solid design deliverables. You will work closely with product management and engineering to successfully go from early stage product concepts to launch. Responsibilities include:

  • Work in close coordination with the product management team to develop a shared vision of a product and then lead a process to define and design an experience to deliver on the product’s objectives.
  • Create user-centered designs by understanding and leveraging business requirements, market segment analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings.
  • Design conceptual wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, information architecture diagrams, interaction specifications, prototypes, and final graphics.
  • Present design work to teams, managers and senior management for review and feedback.

  • Minimum 7+ years experience in user experience design
  • Bachelor's degree in UX design or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience designing in an agile development environment
  • Ecommerce/retail design experience
  • Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Ability to prototype in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a team
