BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the guidance of senior members of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director is responsible for the organization and implementation of over 20 on-campus programs for prospective and admitted students to Columbia College and Columbia Engineering. The officer will work collaboratively and creatively with various campus constituencies to deliver nuanced and successful campus programming.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. With guidance from the Director of Programming and Outreach and other senior members of the office, the Assistant Director will carry out the vision for, from concept through execution, six two-day yield events for recently admitted students which include the management of student interns and collaboration with and management of a project team of admissions officers.

B. The officer will work collaboratively with specialized admissions project teams to structure, develop and implement 15 annual on-campus events for prospective students.

C. The officer will act as the on-site lead for all events, facilitating the programs and serving as the main liaison to a variety of University offices.

D. The officer will serve as the primary liaison to the University Event Management office, booking space and finalizing catering contracts for all events.

E. The officer will work with the communications team to develop all print and email event communication as well as monitor event registrations.

F. The officer will assist with events for the Office of Financial Aid and Educational Financing.

G. Assume other related responsibilities as designated by a member of the office's senior staff.

Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required. 2-4 years' related experience in high-volume event management required.

Successful candidate should have excellent organizational, written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and members of the public.
