General Manager, GOOD/Media
The General Manager of GOOD/Media will provide leadership, values and vision for our media business. The General Manager is responsible for developing and carrying out the company’s long-term strategic plan, as well as the day-to-day business operations. The right candidate will not only have the ability and confidence to build and grow GOOD/Media as an exceptional standalone business, but also design how GOOD/Media can best augment the overall GOOD ecosystem to further our overall mission. Responsibilities•Provide vision and leadership to GOOD/Media through the development and execution of creative and effective strategic plans that deliver breakthrough customer experiences that is both meaningful, useful and addresses our overall corporate mission, values and goals.•Manage all aspects of the media business, including: overall strategic vision; product management and marketing (including online, print and live event properties); editorial creation and calendars; sponsored and co-branded partnerships; and, traffic acquisition, distribution, partnerships and public relations. •Work closely with the Head of Sales and Marketing to formulate strategic sales and marketing direction, partnership ideation and internal processes to facilitate revenue maximization, client satisfaction and market leadership.•Work closely with senior management to develop budgets consistent with the GOOD/Media’s strategy, and take primary responsibility for the oversight, direction and adherence of such budgets. •Create KPIs that quantify performance of the editorial, product, sales and marketing teams and allow for intervention when performance is not meeting expectations.•Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce systems and process that ensure GOOD/Media’s overall operation and effectiveness. •Represent the company at business meetings, conventions and other events.•Involve members of management team (as appropriate) while assisting in the creation and execution of future strategic GOOD/Media roadmaps.•Communicate regularly with the management team about developments within GOOD/Media, as well as ensure regular free flow of information between the business unit, the other business unit GM’s and heads of departments.•Actively collaborate with leadership on mission, culture and strategic initiatives.Qualifications•A strong leader who is a strategic visionary and is equally strong at driving execution•Proven track record of developing and building an organizational structure that aligns the talent to the strategic objectives for the group•Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast paced environment, work collaboratively with other departments and communicate effectively with the management team.•Experience with the best practices of a larger company, but more important, an understanding of how to operate in a smaller, early-stage company with limited resources•Be a problem solver and thought leader on media trends in the market. Who is doing what, and how do our product, content and marketing approaches fit both today and in the future?•Strong strategic thinking skills, as well exceptionally strong communication and writing skills; the ability to translate concepts into easy to understand messages is crucial•Highly developed analytical skills•Maintaining a positive, winning attitude and instilling that same attitude in their team•Be a positive contributor on the senior management team•At least 10 years relevant experience•Consistently successful track record leading teams and organizations•A Bachelors Degree is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred, but not required. •Strong Change Management Leadership and Implementation skills are required.No phone calls please.
