Scholastic is seeking an Associate Director of Online Merchandising. This position is responsible for extending the Scholastic Reading Club experience from the flyers that are received in the classroom to the online website. This position will work closely with Editorial in the product selection and is responsible for building pages and boutiques that complement the offerings of the printed flyers.


•Closely monitors sales and website behavior information to continuously optimize online selections
•Utilizes content management tools and works with UI/Web Development departments to develop, improve, and implement templates for online merchandising
•Oversees monthly planning of online merchandising for all pages, marketing to teachers and parents
•Recommends and executes compelling product assortments and effectively positions assortments to drive an exceptional online customer engagement experience
•Develops business rules to support ongoing online search and merchandising capabilities
•Oversees relationship with iGO Digital and develops and executes strategy for recommendation models
•Oversees relationship with Bazaarvoice and determines strategy to utilize customer reviews for site profitability and growth
•Leads and develops a growing team of direct reports responsible for supporting and executing online merchandising
•Manages the creation and implementation of special collections and landing pages

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor of Arts or Science is required
•5+ years of online merchandising/e-commerce experience
•Excellent product sensibility and ability to merchandise site in a visually appealing way
•Strong analytical expertise and is comfortable generating and evaluating various forecasts, metrics, and analyses
•Team-oriented with the ability to interact with partners across the organization at all levels
•Ability to negotiate and influence peers and members of cross-functional team
•Experience using Content Management Systems, particularly Endeca Paigebuilder and Omniture
•Experience with quality assurance – specifically the ability to efficiently QA websites
•Experience with HTML
•Some UX work is ideal
