Job Title: Marketing Technology Assistant, Trade Marketing

Scope of Responsibilities:
The position will report directly to the Marketing Technology Manager in the Trade Marketing Department. Our team is responsible for managing the product information (metadata) that allows us to sell books for children, from toddlers to teens, through online retailers. We also manage day-to-day marketing projects for ebooks. This position requires organization, initiative, efficiency, great communication, ability to keep track of many moving pieces and an extremely strong attention to detail.

Specific Responsibilities:
Metadata management
Gather metadata from across multiple systems, ensuring it conforms to our in-house Metadata Style Guide and is consistent across all books
Transmit metadata to online retailers for different formats (i.e., print and ebook)
Collect and send cover images to accompany metadata on a regular schedule, keeping meticulous records of covers sent
Metadata updates
Handle metadata update requests from various departments
Send covers that have been updated off-schedule
Assist Marketing Technology Manager in troubleshooting missing or incorrect metadata and covers
Assist manager in keeping records of back-of-book ads requested for new ebooks
Update our internal Trade Intranet site

This position involves multiple workflows, each with many parts that require precise handling. Attention to detail is an absolute must! This person must be able to accomplish complex tasks that leave very little room for error. He or she must be able to understand and follow complicated directions, and take the initiative to discover new and faster ways of completing duties. This position requires an enthusiastic and energetic person who works well with a team. The ideal candidate is highly organized and self-reliant, thrives under pressure, and can juggle many responsibilities and demands.

College degree required
Solid writing and communication skills required
Experience in data management (especially with publishing-specific metadata and ONIX) extremely useful, but not required
Experience working with websites useful but not required
Knowledge of various computer systems:
Excel proficiency a must! If unfamiliar with Excel formulas, must be able to learn quickly
Must be comfortable using and learning online programs, as all metadata and covers are sent electronically
Experience with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat desired, but not required
