PIX11 News is looking for a top-notch experienced journalist to produce a primary newscast. You understand that successfully putting a newscast to air is more than putting slugs in a rundown, stacking the show, ordering some graphics and making sure the live shots are ready for air.

You are a journalist through and through, a storyteller who knows fact from fiction, with impeccable ethics. You have what it takes to balance a story, a segment, a rundown. Every great hour takes the right mix of hard news, information and celebration, in different balances on a given night. Your news judgment is switched on at all times, digging beyond the obvious sources of headlines into deeper, less obvious places for the stories that have meaning for our viewers. Your sense of gravity and balance is spot on. Day after day.

Our world includes social media and audience engagement well before the live shots get tuned in and you own that strategy. You are gifted when it comes to putting words, video, graphics and talent together, using the set to its maximum potential, and treating the video to appeal to today’s sophisticated viewers. You look beyond a lower-third and an over-the-shoulder graphic to tell a top story, understanding the significance and impact production value brings to storytelling. Your skills also include reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, consistency and

Successful interaction with the Assignment Desk, Web Desk, Control Room, and Studio is critical.
Your organizational skills are beyond meticulous so you’re ready to trash your rundown when big news breaks. You’re calm under pressure in the newsroom and in the control room. You crave urgent over mundane, which isn’t the same as “if it bleeds, it leads.” You’re not just in touch with the news cycle. You’re part of the team that sets the agenda and conversation – not just for PIX11 but for New York.
