Marketing and Publicity Manager
The Marketing and Publicity Manager will be responsible for introducing a new children’s publisher to the both the book marketplace and the media, driving the promotional campaigns of our growing children’s list across many platforms. They will create campaigns that will increase sales, raise awareness of our company, and build relationships with booksellers, media, and consumers. They should be able to work independently, while enjoying the challenge of a start-up atmosphere. The ideal candidate will be excited at the prospect of building their own role and working closely with others to create a successful and profitable new publishing venture. Main Responsibilities: Marketing•Helps to develop and execute creative and successful marketing campaigns for all titles •Creates and maintains budgets for titles, trade shows, and other marketing expenses•Provides relevant materials to help the sales department•Helps to manage all social media vehicles, and keeps engagement high•Works closely with authors to maximize both their bookseller and consumer audiences•Develops and maintains contact with influential bloggers to promote our titles•Keeps website updated with timely, relevant, and fun content •Develops strong library marketing campaigns and strong relationships within the library marketplace•Works closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing as well as the Editorial Director to bring promotional opportunities to their attention and help shape the direction of the list•Plans and attends key trade shows•Creates a semi-annual catalog•Provides continual feedback to the company on campaigns, promotional vehicles, and the competitive landscapeMain Responsibilities: Publicity •Helps to develop the story of little bee books•Creates and manages a list of publicity contacts within the trade and the general media•Pitches our books to all relevant media outlets, with consistent follow-up•Writes and sends out press releases•Plans and executes author tours•Coordinates galley mailingsRequired Qualifications: •5+ years of marketing and/or publicity experience in children’s books; preferably both•Extremely strong written and oral communication skills•Comfortable presenting in front of large groups of people•Strong budget management skills •Able to work very independently be a strong self-starter; someone who enjoys forging their own path•Proven creative skills and an ability to continually think in new and different ways•Ability to work quickly and decisively in a fast-paced environment•Willingness to pitch in wherever needed for a small company•Strong desire to grow a new business and help develop a departmentDesired Qualifications: •Experience in promoting board, picture, novelty, and activity books•Established relationships with key booksellers, media, and bloggers•Knowledge of library marketing and best practices•An interest in blogging and shaping a voice through a company blog•Personnel management experiencePlease email email@example.com with your résumé and cover letter.
