Your tasks
As an Open Access Journal Development Editor you are responsible for assisting in the success and development of open access journals within SpringerOpen. This involves the setting and implementation of strategic journal development and content soliciting plans, as well as supporting internal Springer departments with journal specific development activities. Overall, the aim is to support open access journals with maintain continuous publishing schedules by increasing submissions, optimizing publishing services for authors, and providing guidance to internal/external journal stakeholders. Specific responsibilities:

A.Journal development
_Assist Open Access Journal Development Manager with selecting open access journals for development.
_Work with Springer Publishing Editors to identify journal development opportunities, create and implement strategic plans for both new journals and established journals.
_Based on analytics and field research, support Springer Publishing Editors to ensure Editorial Boards are representative of subject area, customer geography/demographics, and including emerging markets.

B. Increase article inflow and citation share
_Work with external Journal Editors, and related editorial contacts, to increase submissions as well as develop content soliciting plans for selected journals.
_Drive the commissioning of content based on journal soliciting plans.
_Ensure appropriate representation in indexing services and work to ensure journals are performing at level for acceptance by selective services.
_Cooperate closely with marketing to ensure that journals receive appropriate promotion (e.g. blurbs, press releases, Twitter etc.) based on set targets.

C.Relationship management
_Support Springer Publishing Editors in their relationships with Journal Editors, society contacts, Editorial Board members and other stakeholders.
_Contribute to Editorial Board meetings, in conjunction with Publishing Editors by providing analyses, present case studies, support reporting etc.

D. Journal Management
_Assist Open Access Journal Development Manager with monitoring manuscript submissions and copy flow procedures by Journal Editors and reviewers with the aim to streamline and shorten the process, in collaboration with internal Springer staff.

E. Marketing
_Liaise with the SpringerOpen marketing team to align journal development plans with marketing plans.
_Cooperate with marketing and PR to ensure journals are appropriately represented through all relevant avenues.

Our requirements
Essential
_BA/BS College degree
_2-3 years of experience working in Publishing or Marketing
_Interest in open access publishing, STM publishing
_Superb interpersonal skills
_Excellent communication skills
_Pleasant and tactful manner
_Ability to work autonomously
_Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail
_Proven ability to complete tasks and conflicting deadlines
_Strong analytical skills
_Positive and proactive approach to problem solving in both daily tasks and complex troubleshooting
_Proven ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels
_A high level of computer literacy
_Experience with developing and maintaining good relationships/partnerships with external contacts

Desirable:
_Previous experience working in the STM or academic publishing industry.
_Candidates with experience working in the academic or science research community are also accepted.
