Mr. Jacqui Cheng
Full Time
We’re looking for a managing editor with 2-4 years of experience to make sure the trains run on time. The ideal candidate should be organized, consistent, and deadline-oriented. This person should be a pro when it comes to planning. The managing editor’s responsibilities include:

Checking in with lead editors and writers to see how they’re doing and letting the EIC know of any outstanding progress that she should note.

Keeping everyone moving forward in the same direction and at speed operationally, AKA herding cats.

Taking a long-term view of assignments and ensuring seasonal assignments are made with enough lead time

Managing the tracking sheet and setting the deadlines on that schedule

Working with the EIC to plan the yearly editorial calendar and publishing schedules

Calculating estimated manpower needs for future workloads

Working with the editors to help them find and vet new hires or freelancers

Orienting new staff and writers as to how we do things

Approving invoices

Journalism and editorial experience, especially when it comes to planning and scheduling, is a requirement. A few years running editorial teams is also a must but we do not expect to hire a veteran for this role. Experience working on editorial content focused on testing and product review or recommendation is a plus. This is a full-time job. Please apply using the details above using “Managing Editor” in the subject line and please include salary requirements in your cover letter.

Please include salary requirements, resume, and cover letter.
