Creative Video and Multimedia Manager
The Creative Video & Multimedia Manager has primary responsibility for producing digital content (creative videography, photography, animation, and illustration) for the College, partnering with Communications and Marketing staff and other departments to deliver on-brand, on-message digital content that engages audiences across digital channels and print communications. S/he demonstrates initiative and versatility in pitching ideas for projects that support institutional messaging goals and content strategies, while also serving as the first point of contact for videography and digital media requests made to the Office of Communications & Marketing. The Creative Video & Multimedia Manager is a proactive, entrepreneurial, and resourceful media professional, as well as a quick and eager learner. S/he exercises good content judgment by demonstrating a high level of awareness regarding the character and values of the Mount Holyoke community audiences, both internal and external. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Serving as the primary visual storyteller for the people and programs that illustrate the College’s refreshed identity and its brand promise.• Collaborating closely with other communications and marketing professionals to identify, conceptualize, and execute fresh and compelling stories through video, motion graphics, audio, still images and text. • Supporting the Director of Web Communications & Multimedia and other colleagues in conceiving and planning digital content strategies designed to promote thought leadership, constituent engagement, student recruitment and retention, and research dissemination both internally and externally.• Serving as a key member of the college communications’ creative and content production team, providing leadership and direction for the College’s creative video and multimedia efforts.• Under the direction of the directors of Web Communications & Multimedia and Strategic Communications & Marketing, refining the College’s editorial standards in digital content and promoting/enforcing them across campus.• Maintaining an ongoing, comprehensive understanding of content trends and advances in technology and industry standards so as to keep the College’s multimedia efforts resonant and compelling to audiences• Providing administrative support in the planning, coordinating, and implementing of digital content projects.• Serving as the primary steward of Communications & Marketing footage library, assessing existing inventory and producing new footage for current and/or future use.• Partnering with the Director of Web Communications & Multimedia to train and work with a corps of student videographers.• Partnering with the directors of Web Communications & Multimedia and News & Media Relations to plan, develop, produce, and assess a campus broadcast program that supplies video news and feature story content to various external news platforms. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES • 5-7 years experience producing and editing digital content for use across online and offline channels, with a solid knowledge of video and audio standards for digital video and DSLR video equipment.• Creativity and well-developed yet flexible aesthetic sensibilities, with a demonstrated facility in producing work within a broad range of formats, styles, tones, and techniques. Ability to identify and embrace the design elements that form the College’s brand identity and incorporate them into project workflow.• Solid project management skills and familiarity with project management/tracking tools, with the ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a personal production and meeting calendar, multitask, and prioritize assignments while under tight deadline. • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite and non-linear editing applications such as Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro, as well as a strong familiarity with and use of digital content environments/ services such as YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Instagram, Soundcloud, Vine, and others.• Creative and technical proficiency in field and on-set production techniques (lighting, camera operation, sound recording); experience with storyboarding and script-writing.• Exceptional interviewing, interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as strong writing skills, including ability to use language accurately and creatively.• Ability to adapt to new working environments and cultivate relationships with students, staff, and faculty. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment is essential.• Ability to travel and work outside of normal business hours for both on and off campus shoots as required• Understanding of copyright laws and issues • Ability to apply SEO metadata to support storage and retrieval of digital content• Graphic/web design and/or motion graphics production experience a plus• Possesses a sense of humor, and can carry on foot photography equipment and gear over various terrains in any season.
