Photo Operations Specialist/Photo Researcher
The Photo Operations Specialist assists in the maintenance of People Magazine's photo database and helps organize incoming analog and digital material for use in the weekly magazine and associated web page. The candidate must be familiar with the magazine editorial process and the duties of photo editors. Communications skills are paramount since the Photo Operations department works with many different staff members, and facilitates interdepartmental processes.Specific duties include the following:Maintaining People Photo Media Server database. This includes checking on automated processes; checking database integrity on a regular basis, running maintenance tasks and checking on their completion.Troubleshooting transmission and database issues.Advising photo editors on technical and quality issues concerning file transmission and print quality.Assisting photo editors with picture research using the People photo database as well as searching for and requesting images from outside photo agencies and photographers.The successful candidate will have experience with the following:- Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, Phase One Capture One, Corel Aftershot or other software for processing raw files and performing image conversions.- Adobe InDesign/InCopy- IPTC metadata guidelines- General ftp server knowledge- Familiarity with a variety of ftp client software- Experience with working with photographers in troubleshooting, technical support, and/or studio assistant situations- Print/color quality evaluationCandidate should also preferably have some familiarity with:- SQL server database- Verity or Autonomy indexing- SWCC Media Server/Media Factory/Media Grid software- Adobe Lightroom, Canto Cumulus, Portfolio, or similar Digital Asset Management softwarePlease include cover letter with resume.
