•Assist in generating new content for our products. Help manage, research, review, and organize content ideas generated by various outlets.
•Assist in obtaining manufacturing costs, preparing purchase orders, and implementing any reprint corrections needed.
•Proofread content.
•Review and circulate page proofs and printer's proofs, checking all details and corrections, obtaining approvals as needed and coordinating the return of proofs to vendors.
•Adjust and make alterations to InDesign or PDF cover and text files.
•Manage digital assets, upload files to vendors, organize resources to work in line with our processes and manage our archives.
•Communicate consistently with the Applewood team, as well as with outside vendors and customers to keep everyone informed of the status of projects and to maintain production schedules.
•Convert books from hardcover to paperback, or paperback to hardcover, as needed, making any necessary adjustments to cover and text per templates supplied.
•Coordinate and track reprints with our printers.
•Assist in the creation and editing of content for the website and for social media sites.
•Assist in preparation of marketing materials, including catalogs, and checking all metadata meticulously.
•File for CIP for any original content.
•Work on bibliographic research and metadata enhancement.
•Perform administrative functions when needed.

•Must be proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Must also be comfortable managing fonts.
•Excellent communication skills and attention to details a must.
•Demonstrated writing and proofreading abilities.
•Should be enthusiastic to learn in all areas of publishing.
•A genuine interest in American history and cultural travel is preferred.
•1-3 years experience in trade publishing.
