The Senior Producer will plan and coordinate the complete range of activities involved in the production of this regularly scheduled local public affairs news program. The Senior Producer will pitch, research and produce segments within the program, book guests, supervise production assistants, researchers, associate producers, editors, photographers and producer/reporters and create and supervise content for online publication. S/he will work closely with the Executive Producer at all stages of the production process from story development through post-production and including studio, control room and all post production.

Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to: creating rundowns, writing scripts, coordinating booking of guests, researching and pitching stories; supervising the editing and delivery of segments; mentoring staff and freelancers; and coordinating production needs with other units and departments. Responsibilities and tasks may also include editing video and writing online content.

To qualify, candidates must have a BS or BA, or equivalent experience, along with five (5) years’ experience in television and multimedia production, at least three of which will have been spent producing daily or weekly news segments and/or programs. Candidates must have experience reporting and interviewing, must be able to edit digital video and have significant experience in control room management both for live and taped television programs. In addition, candidates must have exceptional research skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills, exceptional ability to write for television and online and the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and to problem-solve when difficulties arise.
