Summary
The Manager, Public Relations will help develop and implement strategic publicity plans for key Travel Channel programming and initiatives. This position, which may be based in either New York, NY or Chevy Chase, MD, requires a candidate who is able to work well both independently and as a team player. The candidate must be a master juggler, a time management pro and work well under pressure. The candidate must also be an excellent writer, highly communicative, self-sufficient, resourceful, inquisitive, and possess the innate sensibility to red flag potential PR issues.

The ideal candidate will have experience working at a cable television network and/or entertainment PR agency supporting TV network programming and must have excellent contacts with the consumer TV press, particularly strong relationships with key TV critics and writers at the dailies and weekly publications. In this role, the Manager, Public Relations will be responsible for managing the day-to-day publicity, press efforts and talent relations for all assigned network programs and provide PR support for all related ancillary digital and marketing initiatives. The Manager will work closely with PR team members as well as interface with key internal and external stakeholders including programming, marketing, digital, and personal publicists/managers/agents and production companies. The candidate must be willing to travel regularly between Chevy Chase and NYC.

Duties and Responsibilities
•Develop and implement PR plans/timelines, press materials including press releases, tune in alerts and press kit materials, plus talking points/messaging docs
•Develop and pitch program specific story angles to national and local print, TV and radio, and be responsible for outreach to key TV critics, editors and writers in the top 75+ DMA markets
•Coordinate media tours and cover talent interviews
•Serve as liaison between media and/or the public and the network, its executives and talent
•Manage budgets for individual press projects as assigned, i.e. press kits, show/exhibit support materials
•Support network initiatives and events
•Support the networks as needed for consumer press on combined Scripps Networks Interactive articles
•Support the updating of network brand information listings for media and marketing publications and manage award submissions, as needed
•Review and manage outside press releases by production companies/vendors

Skills/Qualifications
•Demonstrated track record as a creative and successful PR professional
•Ability to take on more responsibility as the company grows
•Ideal candidate must effectively troubleshoot with an eye toward anticipating, identifying and forming strategic solutions
•Must be well-organized and possess the ability to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously
•Detail-oriented and flexibility to work on multiple projects at once
•Must be able to manage multiple projects, as well as have excellent written and communications skills and excellent contacts with consumer TV print and electronic press

Education and Experience
•Bachelor's Degree
•5+ years in public relations
•Previous entertainment agency or television network experiences a must
