Grand Central Publishing is looking for a Publicity Manager for its Grand Central Life & Style imprint. The Publicity Manager will be responsible for handing publicity campaigns for the Grand Central Life & Style imprint, interacting with major media, representing GCP at industry events, and interacting with authors, agents, and editors.

Responsible for implementing original and compelling publicity plans for key titles each season through media campaigns, industry, and author events
Create press releases, pitch letters, promotional materials and media lists with a goal of securing national, regional, and local media in print, broadcast, and select online outlets
Orchestrate and oversee tours, pre-pub buzz tours, media lunches, and local author appearances
Interest in and preferably experience working with lifestyle books (cooking, health, wellness, and style).
Work with the Grand Central Life & Style editorial, sales and marketing teams to create a cohesive publicity effort for each title
Strengthen and develop media and bookstore contacts in addition to maintaining relationships with authors
Handle select campaigns on the Grand Central Publishing list, as needed

Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience
Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed
Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through
Drives change and innovation by improving work product or process, and challenges established norms where appropriate
Proven ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization; takes the lead in inspiring others to work together for mutual benefit
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail
Operates ethically: admits mistakes, treats others with respect, trust, and dignity, demonstrates honest and ethical behavior, and follows through on commitments and agreements
At least 3-5 years of publicity experience with extensive media contacts and a well-rounded knowledge of trade book publishing
Effective organizational and project management skills and proven ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines
Effective communication skills (oral & written) for interactions with media, authors, and in-house constituencies
Self-motivated, hands-on, creative individual with strong initiative and judgment
Ability to work well independently as well as in collaborative or team environments
A leader who possesses experience and a style that will create trust and confidence
