Fashion/Market Editor

Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

Mid- to senior-level editor covers the bridal market and develops fashion content for Martha Stewart Weddings.

Essential Job Functions

40% Collaborates with Martha Stewart Weddings editors and art directors in conceiving and producing fashion and accessories stories. Styles photo shoots. Writes fashion copy. May work on fashion editorial for Martha Stewart Living as well.

40% Covers all bridal fashion and accessories markets. Attends fashion shows, market appointments, and other industry events.

10% Calls in and returns fashion and accessories samples as needed for photo shoots.

10% Maintains and develops relationships with business partners and market contacts. Makes media appearances.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.


Bachelor's degree in a related field.


Four or more years in consumer magazine fashion editorial. Must possess previous experience in concepting, styling, writing, editing and coordinating fashion and beauty pages.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must possess excellent styling skills.

Ability to write tightly focused reader-friendly copy.

Ability to make esthetic judgments that are in sync with the visual and editorial concept of the magazine.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Good interpersonal skills.

Must have solid communication skills with a focus on details.

Ability to build and maintain contacts with fashion companies.

Must have in-depth contacts in the bridal fashion industry and a passion for the subject matter.

Must possess advanced knowledge of fashion industry.

Ability to maintain excellent relationships with manufacturers and public relation agencies.

Must be computer literate.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Must be results oriented with ability to meet deadlines.
