Me: Award-winning author with a major new non-fiction book released this October. Looking for an exceptional publicist to promote this fun, lifestyle-focused hardcover title.  All materials (e.g., press release, samples) are already written, so we’re looking for a media relations ace to reach out to journalists and provide the personal hand-selling that a major publisher isn’t good at.

You: Relentlessly resourceful, hard-working, organized go-getter. You have a fire in your belly about pursuing excellence in all that you do (and the resume/cover letter to prove it), and you are a natural-born persuader with superior communications skills.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone doing PR for a large company, or a even a journalist, who is looking to gain key experience on the side to eventually start your own firm.

This is about a four-month engagement, starting soon, at $1,500/month, plus invaluable experience working on a high-profile book that is being published by an A-list publisher.  You can work on this part-time, but you would need to devote at least eight hours a week to it as well as meet (in Chelsea) once a week for a one-hour update/brainstorming session.  Access to journalist databases (e.g., Cision) and preexisting contacts are a plus.

Requirements: at least three years of publicity experience.  Send your resume and a personalized cover letter explaining exactly why you are EXCEPTIONAL (i.e., different from all of the status quo-accepting publicists out here).
