Communications & Digital Associate
Exciting opportunity to join The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, the nation’s leading policy and scientific authority on substance use and addiction.
The Communications & Digital Associate will contribute to the Center’s overall communications, digital and media relations efforts to increase our visibility as a leading policy and scientific authority on addiction prevention and treatment.
Job responsibilities include creating, editing and posting content to the Center’s website, blog, social media pages; developing materials for the promotion of major reports; managing the editorial calendar for the company blog; contributing to the development of a social media strategy and campaign ideas; drafting Op-Eds, letters to the editor, talking points and press releases; writing and editing for the annual report and newsletters. Identifying, pitching and responding to journalists from a broad range of media outlets to promote organization initiatives, research findings and policy recommendations; monitoring the media and creating daily updates.
Qualified applicants will have 2 to 5 years of communications and/or PR experience including working directly with reporters, producers, bloggers and writers. Seeking a self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and priorities. Outstanding verbal and written communications skills are required, including the ability to translate complex ideas and scientific findings into accessible public messages. Agency experience, including internships, preferred. Knowledge of Cision, PRNewswire, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required. Prior experience with Drupal website content management a plus.
