Responsibilities

Leading the Customer Solutions Engineering group, the Senior Solutions Engineer position will be responsible for managing all pre-sales and post sales projects for global customers to insure the smooth integration of the Velocity Products into Customer environments as it related to the architecture for the video solution. This role is charged with ensuring the Velocity Product is effectively represented, and implemented to maximize the value benefit of the products, and that future product development is informed by the customer experience and needs.

This position will be required to travel and spend time at Customer’s location 80% of the time.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Designing architecture solutions for customer deployments Designing, defining and promoting best practices from global operator base Works with Customer’s network planners teams to ensure a smooth integration into their network Inputs customers’ voice (globally) on Velocity’s Next-Gen Video New Product requirements and roadmap for web services and video pipeline requirements Acts as a liaison between clients and development staff Troubleshooting for the next-gen core video service requirements and tools Demonstrates solid sales knowledge and strong technical background in order to confidently convey the product value proposition to both non-technical and technical audiences Acts as trusted advisor to customers and work to align strategic visions to insure our global roadmap can meet the majority of their requirements. Demonstrates expertise regarding Next-Gen Video product portfolio’s products working with clients and internal stakeholders to realize business goals in their assigned market. Identifies and solves client problems proactively and creatively through project management and consultation on technical setup. Strongly supports and promotes the Verizon’s Credo via positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

Must Have

    BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience 7 or more years of relevant work experience 
Ideally, you'll also have:

    Relevant domain expertise in next-gen video and connected home Programming/scripting: demonstrable experience with bash, Python or other scripting languages Networking: strong understanding of TCP/IP and UDP, subnetting, firewalls, VPNs. Strong Linux systems administration skill with an emphasis on RHEL-based distributions. Monitoring Experience with tools such as Sensu, Nagios, Splunk or Elastic Search / Logstash / Kibnana (ELK) Experience integrating SOAP/XML and RESTful/JSON-based services
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Experience with distributed file systems (Ceph, GlusterFS, etc.)
  • Experience with distributed database systems
  • Experience with Mesos, CoreFS
  • Experience with CGroups, Docke
  • Configuration Management experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Salt Stack or Chef
  • Experience with OS deployment via KickStart
  • Experience with one or more of the following: HAProxy, Nginx, Varnish, or similar technologies
  • B/OSS integration (specifically with Telcos)
  • Integration Middleware (Mulesoft, Oracle WebLogic, J/BOSS, IBM Websphere etc.) experience
  • RDBMS and NoSQL DBA Experience (MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Amazon Web Services experience
  • Strong leadership skills Creative problem-solving and effective analytical skills Engineering experience
