PBS NewsHour Weekend is a current affairs program from WNET, the leading provider of news, current affairs and documentary content for public television.   BS NewsHour Weekend is a 30 minute television broadcast, airing nationally on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
 
 The Producer will plan and coordinate the complete range of activities involved in the production of news and current affairs program segments of varying length. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Producer will oversee a small production team of two people working closely  with the editorial team at all stages of the production process from story development through post-production. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to, writing and producing same-day news coverage, researching and pitching stories; shooting video, developing storylines and identifying locations and characters; producing and directing shoots; conducting interviews, working with on-camera talent as required, writing scripts; supervising the editing, editing,  and delivery of segments.  In addition, the Producer will liaise, as necessary, with various other departments, including publicity, production services, finance and legal.
 
To qualify, candidates must have a BS/BA, or equivalent work experience and at least four (4) years’ experience in television or multimedia production, at least two of which will have been spent producing current affairs segments and/or experience working in a daily news environment.  Exceptional research, communication and presentation skills will be needed as well as the ability to write for video.  Candidates will need to be able to shoot and edit video (using Premiere).  Exceptional planning, organization, problem analysis and decision-making skills will be needed as well as strong leadership, teamwork, and the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and to problem-solve when difficulties arise.   Frequent travel may be required.

Work days are Wednesday through Sunday.   


Candidates with editorial experience in print, online or broadcast journalism are preferred.
