Main Duties and Responsibilities

Based in New York you will work within a team of five marketing professionals based in London. Responsibilities will include:

  • Management of content sponsorships and branded content campaigns - building key audiences (both new and returning) for long-term engagement with the content – to support the FT’s annual advertising revenue target.
  • Acquisition and retention of high-value audiences - developing new ways to reach target audiences through owned, paid and earned channels and emerging third-party platforms
  • Reporting and analysis of campaign performance, communicating the findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Working with FT Squared and the global sales team at the point of pitch/proposal to answer advertiser/agency briefs with innovative ideas and produce supporting materials
  • Any new advertising-led areas of which can be commercially optimised through advertising and need digital marketing support
  • Supporting the promotion and brand building of FT Squared in the US

Day-to-day detail

Manage the execution of all elements of the marketing mix to support the promotion of content on (both FT editorial and branded content). Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver campaigns in a timely, effective and innovative manner. This includes:

  • Creating bespoke advertising campaigns
  • Working with copywriters and designers to develop promotional material
  • Working with Editorial teams to maximise marketing efforts on content
  • Working with CRM and PR teams to increase the exposure of campaigns
  • Managing the setup and optimisation of targeted campaigns on social media platforms
  • Managing third-party vendors to extend the reach of campaigns

Adopting the mindset of ‘quality over quantity’ in regard to advertising-related traffic driving – working with FT Squared and the global sales teams to answer advertiser briefs, create effective marketing plans, produce supporting materials and attend client meetings

Using analytics tools (FT Web Analytics, Google Analytics, Chartbeat,  Social Media etc.) to track and analyse the delivery and performance of campaigns. Ensuring all traffic targets are met and findings communicated to stakeholders

Joint ownership of the FT Squared social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Youtube)

Working with the Ad Operations and Planning teams in London, New York and Manila to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with the FT’s wider commercial proposition (display and programmatic advertising)

Working with the wider teams in B2C, B2B, CRM and Audience Development to fulfil the FT’s ambitious audience engagement and increased readership target

Sourcing and testing new third-party vendors and social media platforms to find new ways of reaching the target audience

Experience and skills

  • A minimum of two years experience working in a marketing role
  • Experience with, and passion for, digital publishing and advertising
  • Proven digital marketing experience, with particular reference to content marketing, branded content, advertising, social media, direct marketing, and SEO
  • An analytical mindset with a knowledge of industry reporting tools and the ability to create a narrative from raw data - presenting this back to clients and stakeholders in a compelling and convincing manner
  • Solid understanding of commercial/advertising requirements and how to turn requirements into deliverable strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns, work with a wide range of stakeholders within an organisation and handle potentially conflicting requirements



  • First round interviews will take place over Skype/Google Meet from 1st-10th November.
  • Second round interviews will take place in the FT's New York Office from 13th-17th November
