Writer / Editor
At Timeline, we believe that it’s impossible to understand the present without knowing the past. We bring the context of history to the important events and topics of today. But we also believe that much of history is under-told, and that many groups are underrepresented in the mainstream version.
With that in mind, we are looking for a talented and ambitious writer/editor to help us expand our our storytelling about the histories of people of color. While we have a strong record of bringing such narratives to the page and screen—just a few examples can be found here, here, here, here, and here—we are looking to broaden and deepen those efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of and affection for history, combined with sharp researching abilities and a great sense of what makes a story compelling, engaging, and readable. The job includes writing pieces, assigning articles to other writers, conceiving of and collaborating on multimedia packages, and working with our team on content partnerships. It is a freelance/contract position with the potential to become more as the role expands.
