Deputy Breaking News Editor
Newsweek is looking for an experienced, web-savvy editor in New York
to help direct our breaking news coverage, including topics such as
U.S. politics, national security, government and weird stuff on the
internet. The ideal candidate is obsessed with social media, politics
and how to grow a digital audience with smart story ideas, compelling
reporting and aggressive headlines.
- Edit multiple stories every day, or sometimes every hour
-Help manage a team of about 20 writers in New York
-Write SEO and social-friendly headlines
- Coordinate with editors in New York, London and Los Angeles to avoid
duplication and plan coverage
This job requires someone who can work flexible hours to respond to
breaking news at nights, weekends, holidays or whenever it happens.
The ideal candidate must have at least four years of newsroom
experience, the proven ability to grow a newsroom’s audience, solid
clips and writing talent.
