Role Summary:
Universal Pictures seeks a highly qualified candidate for the position of Senior Vice President, Film Consumer Analytics.
This position will work closely with the President and Co-President of Worldwide Marketing, the President of Domestic Distribution and the Chief Financial Officer as well as potentially delivering projects for a number of other senior internal stakeholders or ‘clients’.
The Senior Vice President Film Consumer Analytics will lead a newly created team with the ultimate objective of maximizing the potential of analytics in (i) improving efficiency of marketing activities and (ii) generating insights to enable better decision making in both marketing and distribution. This will include managing projects involving both data-intensive analyses and where relevant the building of tools, e.g.:
  • Deep analysis of media tactics
  • Study of interactive advertising elements to maximize engagement, click-through, purchase
  • Longer-lead digital tracking, integrated digital-survey tracking
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): systems and processes to be employed by theatrical marketing, home entertainment marketing and Fandango
  • Fandango BO forecasting refinement
  • Factors driving DVD/Digital purchase vs. view / rental

    The team will have a global remit, but initial projects are likely to be focused on the Domestic market (U.S. and Canada).

    Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Marketing team, including the heads of each department (creative advertising, digital, media, publicity, research, home entertainment) to understand and define business needs
  • Establish Film Consumer Analytics team and build roadmap of projects to be delivered to address business needs, including managing the budget of each project and the team as a whole
  • Clearly scope each project, defining the ‘problem’ to be addressed by i) data-intensive analysis or ii) building a tool
  • Define approach to project delivery, the cadence of updates to key stakeholders and where needed identify, select and manage 3rd party firms with whom to partner
  • Actively manage relationships with and assess progress of 3rd party partners
  • Supervise the delivery of projects by team members from ‘end to end’ with ultimate responsibility for output
  • Track the progress of each initiative in terms of effectiveness and efficiency against pre-agreed KPIs
  • Formulate update presentations for executive management and where needed, business cases for investment in new tools/solutions
  • Research and understand the latest trends across statistics, data science and marketing disciplines and how they can be leveraged by Universal to improve performance and efficiency
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on and relationships with the external vendors with relevant service offerings

    Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a corporate (entertainment, FMCG) marketing or strategic planning function, marketing consultancy or top tier strategy consulting firm
  • Strong project management skills - ability to scope, deliver and measure impact of projects delivered both internally and with external partners
  • Superior stakeholder management skills - candidate must be comfortable interfacing effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior executives to business unit managers and external partners
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author and deliver presentations to senior management
  • Team leadership and line management – candidate will be instrumental in building a new team and supervising internal and external project managers
  • A solid competence across marketing disciplines - knowledge of digital marketing strongly preferred
  • Ability to think strategically about the changing media and technology landscape and the associated impact on film marketing
  • Strong interest in and understanding of the entertainment industry
  • Understanding of traditional and digital advertising media measurement approaches and metrics preferred
  • Familiarity with traditional and digital consumer research methodologies, including social metrics and analytics a plus
