Seeker Media is looking for a Senior Producer to help supervise editorial planning and the execution of news-oriented social video content. Reporting directly to the Editor in Chief, this position is instrumental in ensuring proper coordination of our news programming. In addition to brainstorming ideas for coverage and helping to oversee coverage, the Senior Producer will maintain the programming calendar and guarantee that it reflects the evolving guidance of best practices from our Audience Development teams.


We’re looking for a highly organized and talented producer who is steeped in science/tech journalism, adept at conceiving angles for insightful and informative coverage, and who has experience with managing video producers and video production workflow for social networks like Facebook.


Primary responsibilities include identifying trends in news that play to our focus on science and innovation, assigning and editing scripts daily, monitoring social video production, helping to coordinate related coverage across different formats, and maintaining a programming calendar.


Responsibilities:



    Manage a team of Producers and Producer/Editors
    Help to oversee the social video production team, planning and prioritizing weekly output while ensuring that producers/editors have an evenly distributed workload
    Come up with amazing story ideas and proactively share them during daily pitch meetings while fostering the ideas of colleagues
    Own and maintain programming calendar in Airtable that organizes social video content, implementing an optimal blend of trending news content and evergreen coverage
    Communicate brand & project goals, deadlines, and other information to team members, and internal/external stakeholders to ensure that deliverables for all projects are met
    Brainstorm, develop, and pilot new formats to ensure that we're innovating creatively
    Coordinate the cross-pollination of ideas and coverage between video and written editorial
    Work with Audience Development to refine best practices according to data and analytics
    Leverage data-driven insights to grow audience, engagement, and viewer retention across multiple media platforms
    Help build the platform into a leading outlet for science/tech-related news
    Research and stay ahead of future trending/relevant science news events

Qualifications:



    3+ years of experience developing digital video content for YouTube, Facebook, and other social platforms
    3+ years of video production experience in a media leadership and/or management role
    Bachelor’s degree preferred (media or science/engineering focus a plus)
    A creative storyteller with strong writing ability across a variety of media
    Ability to evaluate, offer constructive feedback on scripts, edits, and developing narratives
    Clear, consistent communication with an enthusiastic and personable approach to work
    Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members and encourage collaboration and work with team members to achieve their career goals
    Extremely detail-oriented and organized
    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and confidently utilize interpersonal skills while thriving under the pressure of daily deadlines
    Demonstrated experience in tying data insights to editorial output
