The weather model producer will work closely with our meteorologists to develop and maintain a proprietary weather forecast modelling system for the NBC Universal Owned Television Stations.
Successful candidate will have a solid background in meteorology and extensive experience analyzing, displaying and manipulating weather forecast data in multiple formats. Linux and related scripting experience is a must, comfort in programming using Python is necessary, experience with the TWC/WSI MAX weather graphics system is preferred. A working knowledge of GIS datasets, GRIB, NetCDF and familiarity with GrADS interactive desktop tool for visualization is required.
Responsibilities include processing and display of weather analysis and forecast data, management of weather information/images and creation of weather maps and graphics for broadcast, web and digital platforms.
Must be familiar with broadcast meteorology, weather modelling, computer programming and graphics production
A 4-year college degree is required
Meteorology or computer science preferred
Must have at least 1-year of experience working in a weather modelling environment.
