The Digital Media Producer plays a major role in the day-to-day execution of Telemundo Washington DC’s digital news strategy, working with other local digital staff to ensure the offering is consistently up-to-the-minute, differentiated, impactful and relevant to a new generation of local users. The role combines acute attention to detail, rapid response, editorial judgment and flair, and consistent day-to-day execution and project-management responsibilities within a 24/7 newsgathering operation. Responsibilities include:

Job Duties
  • Gather, edit, package and publish local news content – focusing on News, Weather and Traffic – to the station’s digital platforms
  • Write text articles, publish video clips and edit image galleries according to the local editorial “voice”
  • Program key related index pages for editorial impact, audience appeal and timeliness
  • Gather and package relevant content around key stories from a range of external sources, feeds and content types
  • Execute all publishing workflows for video, images and text including publishing to social media platforms
  • Enforce editorial style guides, standards and practices
  • Participate in efforts to hit aggressive daily benchmarks for the volume and frequency of local content publication
  • Work with corporate editorial staff and editors in other local markets to share stories and resources across all NBC websites
  • Assist in identifying freelance contributors and managing of content partnerships

  • Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in print, online or television news in a medium to large sized market
  • Experience working with social media, marketing products using social networking sites or creating content that lives on such sites
  • Experience working with content management systems
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or equivalent work experience
  • Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Excellent news instincts combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flair
  • Ability to work on decisively on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and writing intros and leads to video online content
  • Ability to work in a team and across all departments ensuring digital formats that are accurate without typos or errors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelines
  • Proficient in Social Media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, Storify, Tumbler, etc.
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop Elements
  • Experience using data visualization formats such as storytelling tools a plus
  • Experience with Dalet, Clickability, Social Flow, Stratus and Vibrint systems a plus
  • Detail oriented

    NBCUniversal is launching a new Telemundo-owned station in Washington, D.C. This project will expand NBC Washington / WRC-TV’s news staff with a new team of Spanish-speaking and bilingual journalists to launch the new station. Both news teams will serve local Spanish- and English-speaking viewers in the greater Washington, D.C. region. The new Telemundo station team will work closely with WRC-TV’s team members in the existing facility that is home to NBC Washington.
