As a new group, we’re growing quickly and are seeking an exceptional Managing Editor to join our small but mighty team. This is definitely a senior role, which requires solid experience in a similar role within children’s/licensed publishing.

Responsibilities Include tracking multiple complex projects both licensed and own-brand, supporting the team in meeting editorial production dates, and overseeing all stages of the book scheduling process from title inception through its bound book stage.

General Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Schedule management of 100+ titles per year
  • ‪Oversee negotiation of contracts and payment processing
  • ‪Work with the editorial, design and production teams to establish and maintain workable schedules
  • Maintaining accuracy of data and specs within inhouse systems
  • ‪Run regular scheduling meetings
  • ‪Follow-up with editors and designers on deadlines through 121s
  • ‪Ensure smooth, open, and on-going communication between all departments, including other global offices
  • ‪Coordinate creation of promotional material
  • ‪Source, hire, and direct freelancers if required
  • ‪Ensure books are delivered in a timely manner to distributor’s warehouse and customer compliance is adhered to

‪ Requirements :

  • 4-5 years’ experience as a Managing Editor, or similar role, within Children’s publishing
  • ‪Bachelor’s degree
  • ‪Proven ability to create, manage, and maintain print schedules
  • Experience working with global licensors
  • ‪Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign
  • ‪Contract negotiation experience
  • Experience of line managing inhouse staff is essential
  • ‪Proven ability to track multiple projects and meet editorial production dates
  • Detail-oriented, making sure that all aspects of daily activities are handled with accuracy and efficiency
  • ‪Experience working with licensed, illustrated and/or photography-rich books
