What you’ll be doing...
The Automotive Telematics Product Manager will be part of the Hughes Telematics Product Management team whose responsibilities include defining product features and requirements, maintaining the product roadmap, understanding customer needs and preferences, conducting market research and competitive analysis, creating content for marketing collateral, developing business cases for new products, leading development process to bring new services to market, measuring performance of existing products and defining and implementing improvements. Ultimately, the Product Manager is responsible for all aspects of a product’s success.
Create and implement product strategy and roadmap (define roadmap, gain both internal and customer buy-in, lead team to develop and launch services).
Write business/functional requirements and define use cases for new products (such as mobile apps, websites, and in-vehicle screens) and certify final product meets requirements.
Develop product pricing and bundling approach.
Understand the current technology and systems at Hughes Telematics Inc. and how to build services to leverage existing investments.
Provide post launch product support to address performance issues and resolve customer complaints.
Stay abreast of mobile, automotive telematics, and M2M markets (industry trends, new devices and services, customer usage, technology enablers, etc.).
Conduct assessment of competitive offerings and new product launches.
Establish key performance metrics and reporting for each product.
Respond to customer RFP’s for new services and issue RFP’s to vendors as required.
Work with marketing to define how to position the services to end consumers and facilitate the creation of marketing collateral.
Work with training and operations to ensure front line employees have the latest product information and that customer impacting issues are addressed.
Participate on cross functional teams to ensure any product changes and enhancements are effectively communicated across the organization.
What we’re looking for...
College degree required, MBA preferred.
Product management/product development experience.
Experience with web portal and/or mobile app development.
Direct experience with Mobile Connected Services is preferred.
Business to Consumer work experience.
Automotive experience is a plus.
Experience developing products for Chinese consumers and understanding of Chinese marketplace.
Thrives in a fast paced environment.
Ability to think both strategically and tactically.
Takes ownership and drives projects to completion.
Passionate about new technology.
Creative, innovative mindset.
Ability to make timely decisions in an ambiguous environment.
