Role Purpose:
The Sales Planner is primarily responsible for developing sales plans and maintaining all commercial inventory. The NBC Ad Sales planner lends support to the sales staff, administering existing deals, coordinating pending deals and following through to closure with all clients.
  • Prepare and revise Upfront and Scatter sales plans that maximize the use of inventory while fulfilling agency/client requirements
  • Maintain inventory on a weekly basis
  • Liaise with Sales, Pricing & Planning, Marketing and Traffic to ensure sold schedules run as ordered, including all media and marketing elements
  • Deal maintenance: work closely with Sales and Traffic to manage all preemptions and programming changes, make recommendations on schedules according to availability and generate flow charts to reflect all changes, cancellation options and expansion options
  • Stewardship: maintain client schedules to ensure delivery of buy, build/schedule ADU packages as needed, work with assistant and traffic to manage preemptions, reaffirm quarterly estimates and create account posts
  • Account Servicing: work closely and communicate directly with appropriate agency/client counter-parts as needed to ensure excellent service at all times. Serves as back up to account executive while out of office
  • Generate, track and distribute assigned sales report, as specified by Management
  • Prepare deal memos, enter deals into DealMaker and handle all ongoing internal deal maintenance
  • Work closely with the inventory manager to discuss Inventory/Recaps, and enforce all pricing and planning deadlines, policies and procedures
  • Input options and option extensions
  • Pull and distribute post analyses
  • Build planning costs

  • Basic Qualifications:

    o Bachelor’s degree
    o Minimum 18 months related experience in media sales and buying
    o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet research
    o Strong knowledge of media math and audience metrics
