Communications Manager

Responsibilities

  • Serve as communications liaison between members of the Training and Employment Fund (TEF) leadership team and their staffs and the Funds’ Communications Department to help set the direction and guide the strategy for all internal and external communications for TEF
  • Coordinate requests to complete communications projects such as printed materials, photography, videography, invitations, email blasts, website updates and more, trafficking work through each necessary step to ensure that correct procedures are followed and that assignments are completed on time
  • Interface with Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, as well as TEF Directors to set priorities and schedule communications work
  • Interface with TEF staff to field communications work requests and gather necessary information to complete projects
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, Q&A, talking points, statements, as well as other communications documents
  • Manage all TEF Communications projects through completion
  • Manage and drive social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and online presence to engage and inform constituents and leadership
  • Hire, train and supervise TEF Communications Associate
  • Oversee creation and production of monthly employer/trustee/union officer e-blasts
  • Oversee TEF information-gathering process for Fund annual reports and coordinate accordingly with Funds’ Communications Department
  • Manage third-party vendors to complete overflow communications projects
  • Coordinate and manage the interaction of publishing and communication materials with TEF team and Funds’ Communications Department
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field required
  • Minimum five (5) years  job related experience in an office environment required; to include a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred; familiarity with design applications a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines, multitask, make sound judgments, and prioritize work assignments
  • Direct media engagement experience a plus
  • Previous experience with and understanding of social media, blog posts, articles, press releases, digital material, etc
  • Ability to function well in a team dynamic with the ability to support aid and manage others 
  • Exceptional organizational, attention to detail and research skills
  • Professional manner, excellent writing and verbal skills a must
  • Ability to manage projects effectively
