The Position
The Senior Manager, Data Product Management will champion a Data-as-a-Product mindset, responsible for planning, leading, managing and executing the product roadmap utilizing enterprise data assets in partnership with business units at NBCU (Films, Entertainment, Cable, News, Sports, Parks & Resorts, etc.). As a member of the Data Product Management team within the Enterprise Business Intelligence organization, this role primarily will work with the business units across the NBCU portfolio to plan and coordinate project delivery from beginning to end, with extended responsibilities into analyzing user needs, documenting user stories, prioritizing themes and epics based on KPIs and other inputs, and tracking feature impact on KPIs.

Responsibilities for the Senior Manager, Data Product Management, include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate closely across cross-functional business and technical teams to set expectations and guide project execution
  • Serve as a single point of contact for project status and issue management
  • Raise and remove all obstacles related to project execution
  • Employ both traditional and Agile/Scrum techniques as required
  • Monitor risks and issues across the portfolio, serving as a point of escalation/remediation
  • Identify and document dependencies and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution
  • Create processes and communication strategies for every aspect of the project/product lifecycle
  • Communicate project/product updates to the broader NBCU organization and/or key stakeholders
  • Help shape the product vision and strategy, plotting the path for how we grow and utilize our 1st party data pool across the enterprise
  • Work with leadership and the business units to understand their needs, discover opportunities for new products or features and own the roadmap
  • Collaborate with engineering, data science and other core teams to define, design, scope, build products and coordinate the deliveries based on analyzed business/consumer needs
  • Ensure that performance metrics are available to stakeholders and sponsors
  • Support leadership in overall program and product management as well as other top priority initiatives

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of incremental Project and Product Management experience in the media, entertainment or related industries
  • 3+ years focused on building, designing and managing digital products related to data; working on large scale enterprise data assets and commercial products

  • Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating multiple work streams simultaneously
  • Proven experience in the practice of product management; You have shipped product and can prove it
  • Solid executive presence combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex information clearly and appropriately handle sensitive information
  • Results-focused, with the ability to lead/direct/influence conversations amongst a dynamic stakeholder group and drive consensus
  • Attention to detail while reviewing project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project requirements
  • Ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts for a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and negotiate resolutions to complex problems
  • Proactively acts to identify value-added solutions that will enhance project delivery and addresses potential issues before they impact the project
  • Sees multiple relationships and dependencies, identifying several likely solutions or procedures to address relevant project issues
  • Is receptive to change and is willing to adjust work plans and schedules based on new requirements and direction from leadership
  • Promotes team effectiveness by soliciting input from team members on critical project dependencies and milestones
  • Demonstrated effectiveness developing plans, prioritizing activities, and driving execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Industry certifications such as CSM, PMP, SAFe certifications, a plus
