4 Point Consulting is helping Fit Small Business add to their rapidly growing team once again! Marc Waring Ventures, the company behind the small business resource website FitSmallBusiness.com, is seeking a full time Retail Business Writer to join our editorial team.
Founded in 2013, FitSmallBusiness.com is read by over 1 Million small business owners and managers each month. We are a fast growing NYC-based startup with more than 40 full-time US-based staff, with headquarters across the street from Grand Central.
Many of our readers are retailers, who operate one or two location shops, restaurants or service businesses (like salons or boutiques). We are looking for a retail writer to be our resident expert on how to successfully run and grow these retail businesses, from stocking and tracking inventory to managing staff and customer relationships.
The Retail Writer will cover a range of topics including POS systems, merchant account processing, local advertising, merchandising, store layout and signage. While we do not expect our writer to have experience in all of these areas, we do expect hands-on experience or coverage of at least a couple. The best candidates will be strong writers who have a passion for seeing brick and mortar retail start-ups grow and flourish. You should also have a great network of sources from either covering or working in the retail world. Most importantly, you are passionate about writing and want to share your knowledge in written form to teach our eager readership how to make their small businesses succeed.

Responsibilities will include:
Researching, writing and editing articles related to small business retailing. Topics will include operations, merchandising, marketing, and payment processing.
Analyzing and reviewing software and services for retailers, such as POS systems, payment processing and and anti-theft devices.
Reporting on significant changes in the industry, such as rolling out EMV.
- Conducting interviews with retail software and service providers, and their users.
Providing in depth responses to reader questions.

Qualifications for success:
You have a minimum of 3 years retailing experience
You are comfortable writing about how to use technology products related to retailing, such as POS Systems.
You are high energy, and passionate about helping small businesses succeed.
You are comfortable working in a startup environment, where things change quickly.
