Social Media Curator
The Hill is seeking a social media curator with strong writing skills, sharp multitasking abilities and an unbridled enthusiasm for political journalism.
Responsibilities include writing stories, composing posts/tweets for Facebook and Twitter, editing headlines, choosing art for stories, tracking social media measurements and suggesting ways to enhance The Hill's social presence.
The successful applicant will have journalism experience as well as deep knowledge of the biggest newsmakers in politics and hottest topics on social media.
The applicant will also be called upon to complement the packaging of existing stories with visuals or other social media enhancements.
The successful candidate must write superior headlines, have sharp news judgment, make good decisions quickly, and execute ideas against high-pressure deadlines. The best candidates will be news junkies who closely follow breaking news and political trends on social media.
Strong written communication skills are required, with an emphasis on grammar/spelling excellence.
NOTE: Prior experience at a *news organization* is a MUST. Candidates without direct experience writing breaking news stories or working in a fast-paced newsroom will not be considered at this time.
Candidates with mainly marketing, PR, public affairs, or comms backgrounds will not be considered. This is not a remote position. It is based in our Washington, D.C. newsroom. No exceptions.
