DreamWorks Animation Television is seeking a VP of Development with a focus on animated TV series. The ideal candidate will have successfully developed TV series or motion pictures in the past, have strong agency relationships, have a strong network of artists and writers, and understand the issues that arise in development and production of television series. Responsibilities: Collaborates with key creatives (Producers, Writers, and Artists) on development projectsIdentifies and cultivates fresh ideasTakes initiative and works with creative teams to move projects forwardInterprets and translates notes from creative discussions and ensures timely distribution to Executives and TalentProvides notes and creative input on scripts and reading materials with a strong knowledge of story structure and character developmentGives clear and supportive feedback to creative teamsBuilds rapport and maintains relationships with management companies and talent agencies in an effort to find new writers, artists and directorsSources possible materials, books, stories and scripts for consideration in future television ProjectsIndependently identifies potential talent (i.e. Directors, Animators) and provides initial list to ExecutivesFosters close working relationships with creative teamsActively participates in the creative and development process to generate scripts and character designs as well as pitch documentsCollaborates with other Development Executives on projects and works well in a team setting to support and improve all projects in development
8+ years of experience in development in either Film or Television or a related media field
Experience in comedy development highly desired
Excellent people management skills, including strong communication and leadership ability
A proven track record of developing extraordinary content
Experience at a TV network, content platform or premiere producer highly preferable
A strong desire to innovate
Outstanding presentation skills
Knowledge of media market in international territories
