The Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) is responsible for best-in-class programs spanning across multiple businesses, facility locations with 14,000+ employees, two million square feet and comprising of a dynamic mix of offices, studios, distribution centers, contact centers, technical facilities and production stages. The Vice President directly leads the Universal City Studios EH&S staff, in addition to working with the corporate EH&S team. The successful candidate will provide cross organizational consultation and thought leadership to ensure key programs and initiatives will be delivered. Additionally, s/he will create compelling business cases, drive understanding and senior leadership alignment and is the voice and face of Studio Operations EH&S. The Vice President will be responsible for establishing the governance structure and all standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop, implement and drive effective safety and environmental programs to ensure the design, construction and operation of safe facilities and to reduce the risk of incidentsProvide executive oversight of permit application and renewal activities, as well as conduct negotiations with agenciesInterface with business leadership to provide expert advice and counsel in support of the strategic direction of the operationWork with project planning and construction groups to confirm environmental and safety elements are included in project scope and costsConsult and advise business operations on initiatives, programs, opportunities and problem resolution, as well as maintain regular two-way dialogue to continually enhance effectivenessServe as a representative to external agencies and associations as an advocate on behalf of NBCUniversalPartner with Security, Emergency Services, Fire Prevention, Medical Services and other stakeholders to align initiatives, collaborate on problem solving and keep each informed Keep the brand and image of NBCUniversal in mind throughout the development and integration of all safety and environmental practices while driving value to the businessInspire NBCUniversal employees to embrace a culture of safety by helping them understand the business value and positive culture impactEstablish metrics, key performance indicators and means of measurement to make decisions and report results to the business on a regular basisResponsible for the deployment of education and awareness programs for NBCUniversal West Coast employeesLead investigations and risk assessments, as well as implement action plans to course correction and proactively remediate Identify short and long term trends and develop innovative solutions to address

• Minimum 10 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience in a corporate setting
• Minimum 5 years of experience successfully leading a corporate Environmental Health and Safety team
• Knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules, regulations and procedures

• Experience within a corporation with a diverse portfolio of businesses and assets, such as studio production facilities, theme parks, office settings and large campuses, highly preferred
• Experience at a media/entertainment company a plus
• Successful track record building consensus and influencing senior leadership and stakeholders in order to implement strategy and achieve results in times that can be fast-paced, pressurized and of high volume
• Proven ability to build and sustain excellent relationships, through clear and effective communication, with all levels of management across functions and divisions domestically and internationally
• Proven ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports, peers and external clients and vendors in a high matrix environment
• Able to effectively attract, build, develop, coach and elevate teams
• Expertise building and managing performance metrics to drive the understanding of a smart and safe work environment
• Ability to make complex decisions with high levels of discretion
• Calm under pressure and able to direct people and teams in emergency or high-stress situation and with rapid problem resolution capabilities
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, on a variety of business topics, with the ability to translate technical information clearly and concisely to business leadership and employees of all levels
• Achieve high levels of team performance and effectiveness while meeting financial guidance
• Effective customer service, people management and team leadership skills
• Ability to define strategy, scope tasks and set goals and then manage against plan
• Thorough knowledge of emergency response and incident management techniques
• Knowledge of investigative practices, audits and forensic accounting is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Occupational Safety/Environmental Health or other related field or experience
