The Production Coordinator (Freelance) supports the Digital and Social Media (DSM) team by coordinating assets for all platforms managed by DSM, including but not limited to,, and HBO social platforms. Responsibilities include overseeing digital asset requests between all internal groups (Production, Content, Design and Digital Marketing) as well as publishing coordination for all HBO and Cinemax digital platforms. Production coordination is inclusive of support for HBO Original Programming, HBO Sports, HBO Documentaries, theatricals and HBO Brand work.
The Production Coordinator is also responsible for implementing publishing and digital marketing strategy as defined by the HBO Digital team, adhering to the publishing process (including quality assurance of publishes), status reporting and asset management. Within the social media coordination component, this role maintains planning documents and content calendars, in addition to publishing to the social platforms. The Production Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining the planning documents for, which publishes on a daily basis.
The Production Coordinator will follow the Producers and Associate Producers’ lead to ensure all factors that govern site/project success deliver within time, cost and quality parameters. This role includes occasional on-site support for New York City-area HBO Sports events, including, but not limited to boxing matches and press conferences. In addition, occasional night and/or weekend work will be required based on programming and events.


Assist in publishing and maintaining HBO Original Programming digital experiences. Successfully manage each project by:

  • Working with the Digital Creative, Production, Digital Marketing and Content teams to coordinate and oversee multiple simultaneous asset requests across the entire catalog of HBO & Cinemax programming, including theatricals

  • Publishing to, HBO-owned sites and to social media platforms with 100% accuracy via our Content Management System with a focus on daily strategy and production

  • Utilizing project management tools such as Asana and Slack to optimize and streamline the process for the full team, and assists in finding efficiencies to maximize creative team output where possible

  • Acquiring site/project-related assets

  • Creating and managing production schedules

  • Assisting in the discussion to improve content promotion based on fan interest, traffic stats, trends, etc.

  • Reviewing all deliverables for quality assurance

  • Collaborate with our Content and Design teams, Digital Marketing and various other stakeholders within HBO, to guarantee project success.


The ideal candidate follows the latest digital trends and has a deep understanding of emerging technologies, particularly as it relates to social media. Additionally, they possess a true passion for premium programming and an interest in exploring how that content is marketed effectively to consumers in the digital space.
Other requirements as follows:

  • Experienced at publishing, curating and updating high-quality websites and social media handles/profiles, with at least 1 year relevant (i.e. media rich) interactive experiences. Mobile publishing and development experience a plus.

  • Proactive, organized, efficient, detail-oriented, unassailable focus on the basics, tenacious, persistent about bringing open items/projects to closure, accountable, enthusiastic, able to follow detailed instructions from Producer team.

  • Ability to balance multiple, competing directions and manage multiple projects successfully.

  • Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and influence-management skills essential; can collaborate effectively and efficiently.

  • A sound knowledge of the digital space, social media and related technologies, including social media best practices and the latest tools and optimization tactics

  • Assisting in the discussion to improve content promotion based on fan interest, traffic stats, trends, etc.

  • Proven ability to publish and manage content in Content Management System(s).

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, if needed
