The WGBH Education Department designs, produces, distributes and promotes free digital media resources to support innovative teaching and learning for all ages. Our interactive lessons, award-winning videos, and hands-on activities are designed for classrooms, homes, and community settings and delivered via mobile devices, online, and in print. Through in-person workshops, multimedia presentations, professional development, outreach campaigns, and other community engagement models, we enable our audiences to expand their knowledge, improve their skills, and enrich their lives.  We are a partner with PBS in PBS LearningMedia (, a digital resources service/platform for K-12 education with 1.6 million registered users and thousands of free digital resources.

Under the supervision of the Senior Producer, the Education Production Assistant is responsible for ingesting and cataloguing WGBH-produced PK-12 digital education content into the PBS LearningMedia Content Management System.  A secondary responsibility involves supporting the WGBH LearningMedia team’s basic video production and/or graphic design activities.  

50% - Ingest and catalog WGBH-produced content into PBS LearningMedia Content Management System (LM CMS) and other databases, including WGBH Production InfoManager (PIM,) database. Use PBSLM Next Reports for pulling metrics on content from LM CMS as needed. Author and QA resources and collections on PBSLM. Author WGBH Interactive Lessons (IL) using the IL authoring tool as requested. Edit and QA Interactive Lessons as requested. Format support materials, as needed. Request and process caption files, as needed. Create and edit logos and poster images to LM spec as well as images for Interactive Lessons. Work with Rights Manager to confirm legal metadata. Maintain accurate and complete records. Address and track requests for fixes to LM resources. Provide technical assistance to colleagues as they ingest content, as needed. Update WGBH Pipeline document for PBS LearningMedia on a monthly basis.

20% - Understand and communicate content specifications for PBS LearningMedia digital education content to internal team and project partners. Coordinate deliverables with internal staff and external contributors. Provide quality assurance of deliverables and troubleshoot technical issues. Train internal staff on CMS and Interactive Lesson processes as requested, and review their work. Ensure that proper naming protocols are followed. Circulate materials for internal review and serve as liaison to PBSLM colleagues as requested. Draft and update LM best-practice documents, including helping to develop new and improved processes for PBSLM work.

20% - Support the work of WGBH Education team Video Producers on basic production needs (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere), such as creating poster images and end slates, and pulling video excerpts.  Additionally, support WGBH Education team with graphic design needs.

10% - Work with WGBH Education team and PBSLM partners to determine need and feasibility for renewing expired content.  Coordinate with relevant internal and external partners regarding changes to ingestion processes and new system features, as required. Assist with research projects as needed.


Candidates must have:
•    experience working with content management processes/tools
•    experience processing image and video files
•    graphic design skills for software (e.g., Adobe graphic design software)
•    working knowledge of FileMaker Pro, Word, and Excel. 
•    experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere or Avid)
•    proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to cultivate productive working relationships with internal and external clients
•    ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment. strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills and a strict attention to detail
•    Two years’ work experience
•    Interest in PK-12 Education a plus

Bachelor’s degree is required.
