The National Academies Press (NAP) was created by the National Academies to publish the reports issued by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council, all operating under a charter granted by the Congress of the United States. NAP publishes over 200 books a year on a wide range of topics in science, engineering, and health, capturing the most authoritative views on important issues in science and health policy. The institutions represented by NAP are unique in that they attract the nation's leading experts in every field to serve on their blue ribbon panels and committees.

Administers digital communication strategy, permission marketing systems, project management, and reporting programs. Manages digital communication project timelines and resources. Facilitates the successful completion of projects by developing necessary requirements, specifications, and other documentation. Develops and manages Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting programs and produces ad hoc reports for senior management. Serves as principal liaison. Provides input for strategic planning of future digital communication strategy endeavors.


Business Analytics Analysis

  • Produces scheduled reports for
    • Executives and Senior Staff
    • Communications Managers
    • Staff
  • Creates ad hoc reports as needed
  • Manages business and web metrics technologies and services
  • Identifies notable trends and proposes relevant Key Performance Indicators


Project Management

  • Performs requirements gathering and analysis. 
  • Translates business and technical requirements into specifications.
  • Develops proposals including project budgets and staffing requirements.
  • Provides expert analysis, resolves issues, and recommends alterations. 


Strategic Planning

  • Participates in strategy planning sessions for digital communications and analytics initiatives.
  • Contributes to technology assessments and the selection and recommendation of appropriate solutions. 
  • Provides advice and guidance on products and new ways of applying technology to the work of the organization. 


Customer Liaison

  • Serves as liaison between clients and digital communications project staff. 
  • Manages timelines and deliverables
  • Communicates project status to clients, staff, and management. 
  • Prepares project presentations and demonstrations.


Documentation & Training

  • Consolidates & Maintains New & Existing Project Documentation      
    • AcademyNet (intranet)
  • Develops & Maintains Training Programs for:
    • Permission Marketing Systems
    • Web Production Systems
    • Business Process Management Systems
    • Web Metrics Management & Interpretation
    • Reporting Systems


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent project management and technical writing skills.  Thorough knowledge of project management tools, business intelligence technologies & applications, programming languages, and other IT technologies.  Proven database management skills.  Ability to solve intellectual problems of some variety and complexity.  Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees.  Customer service & troubleshooting skills.  Experience working in complex distributed environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness.  Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies’ departments. 

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent knowledge.

Minimum Experience: 4 years of related experience.
