Web Producer


Department: PBS Digital

Status: Full-time/Contractor (Temporary assignment through December 31, 2018)
 

The Web Producer will work on an ongoing rebuild of the Ken Burns suite of film sites.


Essential duties will include, but not limited to: 

  • Migrate content from old sites to new
    • Set up sites in Craft CMS 
    • Lay out pages based on established models
    • Determine small sitemap changes, when needed
    • Process images, when needed
    • Flag content that requires review/update after launch 
    • Perform very light editing/copywriting (such as promo module teaser text)
  • Make small CSS and HTML tweaks, as needed 
  • Identify areas that may require changes/review for accessibility needs
  • Collaborate closely with project manager on schedules, asset requirements and launch needs
  • Present sites for review to film producers and other stakeholders
  • Provide feedback/requirements to CMS vendor
  • Provide feedback/requirements to PBS Design team 
  • Process video files
    • Use Media Manager system to upload video files, when needed
    • Upload caption files
  • Collaborate with Design team on user testing for features
  • Work closely with the Director of Digital Programming; the Project Manager, Ken Burns Sites; and the design, operations and CMS vendor teams

Requirements for success:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Web Producer
  • Knowledge of content management systems (Craft preferred), CSS, and HTML
  • Understanding of the principles of WCG accessibility requirements and responsive design
  • Comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders – products/operations, design, film producers, etc – and across corporate levels
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and work on multiple sites at once
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Sound editorial judgment
  • Understanding of, and appreciation for, the convergence of broadcast and web content
  • Previous public media experience a plus
