The Promotion Writer/Producer/Editor plays a critical role in the success of NBC4, Los Angeles by developing the brand identity for all our newscasts and overall station. We work closely with leaders throughout the newsroom, community relations, and sales teams to weave our brand into everything we do. We bring our daily topicals, image campaigns, proof of performance spots and PSA’s to life through creative, compelling, and engaging promotion.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the placement of commercial spots and sponsorship billboards to maximize revenue and inventory
  • Conceive, produce, edit and write on-air promotional spots and marketing campaigns for NBC4 News programming, special events and digital properties
  • Partner with the NBC4 News department, Sales Teams, and Community Relations to create promotions such as topical, PSAs, image, and franchise campaigns to execute the strategic goals of the station
  • Collaborate with the VP of Local Brand Marketing, Promotion Manager, graphic artists and the overall creative team
  • Ensure that assigned projects meet their assigned budget and are delivered on time
  • Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with all production team members
  • Push the creative envelope to new heights while adhering to brand guidelines
  • Attend weekly planning/production meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of on-air promotion experience as a writer/producer/editor for a cable network, digital station or local station
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working in a news environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Strong creative writing skills with proven examples
  • Strong knowledge of television production procedures and news operations
  • Knowledge of promo editorial process from beginning to end
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience
