The VP of Development will be a primary point of contact for internal and external unscripted ideas and development. The VP will be responsible for building and developing original series for a wide range of buyers including broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. The role requires existing strong relationships in the entertainment community and the ability to foster new ones. The ideal candidate will have experience on the production/sell side of unscripted series, and have an established track record of packaging successful series for production and air.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, develop, package, and sell original, non-scripted programs and formats.
  • Develop original programming for internal and external network partners.
  • Create compelling unscripted content across a wide range of formats, for broadcast, cable and streaming programmers.
  • Build relationships within the unscripted programming community with producers, showrunners, and production companies.
  • Maintain relationships with agents and talent to stay current in terms of industry climate & future trends.
  • Work with team and internal partners to create best in class content to grow Wilshire Studios’ brand in the unscripted space.
  • Work with the EVP, Development and the respective team to drive growth in development and program sales.
  • Actively identify and introduce new talent and producers to the studio with the potential for future development.


  • Minimum 7 years working in unscripted television series development at a production company, studio, or network or as a producer.
    Proven experience in packaging, developing, and selling unscripted content to networks or related distribution platforms.
    Bachelor’s degree.

    • Passion for reality television.
    • Strong experience in developing and/or producing formats for broadcast and cable.
    • Experience with “shiny floor” event shows.
    • Experience in creating formats from inception.
    A self-starter, who is assertive, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.
    Strong relationships with Content Buyers, Agents, Producers, and Managers.
    Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and high energy environment.
    Team player who works well with others.
