We are looking for a News Editor to help take Well+Good’s news content to the next level from our New York office.

You’ll Report To: Managing Editor - Well+Good
A typical day as a News Editor - Well+Good might include:
- Curate, assign, edit, and publish 6-8 daily news articles, covering "currency" topics spanning all verticals on the site Track a variety of sources daily, including but not limited to women's lifestyle publications, health blogs, traditional news outlets, all social platforms, influencer sites, and Google Trends to tease out story ideas that will speak to the Well+Good reader Build relationships with industry professionals for exclusive story opportunities Workshop daily story angles with members of the editorial team Manage a team of two news writers and assign to the rest of the editorial staff as needed Ensure the daily lineup of news content includes a mix of content spanning on-site verticals Analyze analytics data to ideate content support traffic-winning patterns Participate in editorial team meetings
You’ll be successful if you are passionate about outstanding content, great ideas, and helping the entire team reach its full potential. The News Editor is responsible for ideating, assigning, and top-editing daily "currency" stories spanning all on-site verticals. The News Editor is an all-star generalist who is excited to learn on the go about any topics our readers are interested in. You'll track other websites, Reddit, YouTube, influencer blogs, what's trending on Google, and beyond to bring Well+Good readers the latest goings-on in wellness. This is a fast-paced position, and will require you to prioritize your tasks in order to see them executed in a timely way. While this is first and foremost an editing role, you are encouraged to write features, first-person pieces, news stories, and SEO articles when needed.
What You Have:
- 3-5 years of relevant editorial experience Stellar news judgment (What needs to be covered? What can be skipped?) Meticulous editing skills that allow you to publish high-quality content at a high volume Strong grasp of the Well+Good voice Creative thinking skills that can breathe fresh angles into content Leadership skills allowing you to advocate for the best stories and mentor greener writers and editors A working knowledge of and interest in all aspects of wellness Time-management skills to prioritize what's *most* important at a given time on a given day A desire to wear multiple hats—no job is too big or too small We're casual and informal but we work hard and work responsibly. A pleasant and supportive demeanor goes a long way.
