Newser is a news site with a kick. Our editors hand-pick the best stories from hundreds of US and international sources and summarize them into sharply written, easy-to-digest news briefs of about 250 words. And we're adding to our team.

We're looking for editors who know their way around the news and have an ear for concise, punchy writing. Prior experience in the news industry is a must, as is the ability to turn in incredibly clean copy. We currently have a number of openings, with shifts generally lasting four hours. Our current needs include the overnight shift (so in the 11pm ET to 6am ET range, Monday through Friday), weekends (early mornings and afternoons) and Monday evenings (4 to 8pm ET).

What you get: The chance to be immersed in everything from the #MeToo movement to the latest scientific discovery to the political scandal of the week; the option to shower before work or not; a slot on the team of a vibrant, addictive website; and a rapid-fire gig where we can promise you'll never be bored.

Think you're a good fit? Prove it. Please pick one of the two stories list below and write a short, pithy headline, deck, and two paragraphs (roughly 250 words) summarizing it. PLEASE use the stories on as a guide to both voice and length--we're looking for someone who can jibe with our very specific style.

Please submit your brief along with a resume and cover letter outlining your interest and availability, in an email that has your name on the subject line.
